Rathinavel Subramaniam Educational Trust (RVSET) was established in 1983 as a public charitable Trust, in fond memory of Master Rathnavel Subramaniam the elder son of the chairman Lion. Vijayashree Dr. K. V. Kupusamy and Smt. K. Padmavathy, with objectives to create facilities for education, health care and upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden especially of rural regions.
Today, RVS Educational Trust glows as one of the laudably leading educational organizations of our country, conceived with a frame work of corporate structure under the dynamic captaincy of Dr. K. V. Kupusamy, a well known philanthropist and a versatile visionary.
The astounding growth of RVS Educational Trust has brought under its fold a plethora of educational institutions ranging from schools to higher educational institutions. The Trust runs a Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Arts and Science College, Management Studies and Research Institute, Para medical institute comprising of Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy & Ayurveda College at Sulur campus, a suburb of Coimbatore cosmopolitan city. An RVS multispecialty 150 bedded hospital on the Sulur highway caters to the modern medical needs of the people residing in and around Sulur, besides imparting training to the students of health care educational units under the Trust.
There is an archipelago of educational institutions comprising of a Dental College, Engineering and Polytechnic College, Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Siddha Medical College and Hospital, Teacher Training Institute, and College of Education at Kannampalayam campus situated a few kilometers from Sulur.
The Trust also runs RVS Engineering College, Polytechnic, Management Institute, Industrial Training Institute and College of Education at Dindugal and Bhakthavatsalam Vidyastram central board school and a Women's College at Korattur, Chennai. The Trust also has established an Arts and Science College, College of Education, and a Teacher Training Institute at Karaikal.
Realizing Agricultural and rural development as the key to the country's progress, RVS has ventured to create a niche in the farm sector. It has extensive farms across Tamilnadu with holdings to an extent of 5000 acres, devoted to research extension and training apart from integrated farming activities like horticulture, nursery, sericulture etc. Another area of the Trust's fond activities has been the RVS Social Service Institutions. RVS working women's hostels at Kannampalayam, Dindigul BMT working women's hostel, korattur and RVS orphanage at Sulur are the evidences of the Trust's bent of mind towards social service and women's welfare.
The Trust's penchant for Information Technology has prompted it to start an off shore venture in US namely Mantel Corporation with focus on web development and client server computing. An affiliate of it is RVS Infotech, Coimbatore with a hard core team of technocrats offering training offshore development as well as IT enable services.
RVS Aarupadai Veedu Cultural Trust gives vent to the Trust's abundant love and piety for the heavenly Lords and spiritualism. The Kumaran Kottam on Coimbatore – Trichy highway at Kannampalayam houses a temple of Lord Muruga adorned with a 5 stairs, 6000 sq.ft. Rajagopuram. Recently a magnificent temple for Lord Venkateswara has been built, behind Kumaran Kottam and it is popularly known as Sulur Tirupathi.
